SokoSave has several features of interest.

  • Supports classic square-tiled Sokoban puzzles, hexagonal-tiled Hexoban puzzles, and triangular-tiled Trioban puzzles.

  • Runs on several platforms, including Microsoft Windows, MacOS/X, MacOS/X Server 1.0 (Rhapsody/YellowBox) for Mach and Windows, OpenStep 4.2 for Mach and Windows, and NextStep 3.3. SokoSave's game-play and appearance are identical on all platforms.

  • Offers several powerful, computer-assisted movement mechanisms. Using simple point-and-click actions, the computer can move the player and crates automatically over long distances and navigate complex paths. The automated movement mechanisms allow you to focus on the higher-level problem of solving the puzzle, rather than the minute details of each move and push.

  • Offers unlimited undo and redo. You can easily undo and redo a single move, an entire game, or any number of moves in between. A convenient smart undo/redo feature allows you to undo and redo logically-related groups of moves as a single operation.

  • Computes four distinct scoring metrics: Moves, Pushes, Runs, and Focus. The last two may be of particular interest to players participating in the monthly Sokoban contest (English) run by François Marques (English).

  • Saves and restores games. Saved games are transportable across all platforms on which SokoSave runs, so you can send copies of your well-played games to your friends; or play a game on Microsoft Windows and review it later on Macintosh.

  • Source code is available.
